How Speedometera researches, tests and corrects its speed tools: one named author, primary sources, tested maths, public corrections and ads kept apart.
Last updated: 25 October 2026
In short: one named author writes everything on Speedometera, every fact is checked against a primary source, every number comes from code covered by automated tests, and any reader can report an error. This page explains each rule and what it means in practice.
Who writes the pages
All guides and tools are researched, written and built by Izhar Ahmad Danish, Independent Researcher & Blogger. Speedometera is a one-person project: there is no separate editor or technical reviewer, and we do not claim a review that did not happen. Every page shows its author and the date it was last updated.
Accuracy first
- Primary sources. Unit definitions come from NIST SP 811, GPS accuracy from GPS.gov, browser location behaviour from the W3C Geolocation specification, and speedometer and speed-limit rules from regulators such as UNECE and NHTSA. Facts such as train top speeds come from operators. Secondary articles help us find sources but are never the final citation.
- Exact constants. 1 mile = 1,609.344 m, 1 nautical mile = 1,852 m, 1 ft = 0.3048 m. These are exact by definition, so conversions are never rounded before the final step.
- Original tables. Tables are generated from our own tested code or calculated from cited definitions, not copied from other sites.
- Dated claims. Anything that can change (laws, fines, records, device behaviour) is written with the date or edition of the source.
How we check our own work
Without a second reviewer, we rely on checks that do not depend on trusting one person:
- Automated tests. The speed, unit, calibration and tire maths lives in small modules tested with Vitest. A release cannot be deployed unless every test, a type check, a production build and an SEO check pass.
- Published method. Every formula, constant and threshold is listed on the methodology page, so anyone can recompute a result.
- Pre-publish checklist. Before a page goes live, its sources are opened and matched to the claims they support, its worked examples are recalculated, and its images are checked for credit and licence.
- Drafts stay out of search. A page that does not yet meet this standard is marked as a draft and set to
noindex.
Real questions
FAQ sections answer questions people actually search for (Google "People also ask" and related searches). Answers are short, direct and either sourced or calculated.
Corrections
Report an error by email to hello@speedometera.com or through the contact page. We check every report against the primary source. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly, the page's updated date changes, and significant corrections are noted on the page. If the error was in the maths, we add a test that reproduces it before fixing it. Site-wide changes are listed in the update log.
Images
Illustrations are our own, or royalty-free with a visible credit. We do not use images in a way that suggests they show something they do not.
Independence
The site will be funded by advertising. Advertisers have no say in our content, ads are labelled and kept separate from it, and ads are never placed inside the speedometer. We do not accept payment to mention or recommend a product; if that ever changes, it will be disclosed next to the content.
Safety
Every page that touches driving or riding reminds readers to set up before moving and never to handle a phone at the wheel. Readings are informational and are not evidence of speed; see the disclaimer.
